This new format is to satisfy each group who wants both fixed events which are two days on the water and wildcard days for those who cannot travel to all fixed events or zero out on a fixed event.

$1,000.00 WILL BE COLLECTED BEFORE THE FIRST FIXED TOURNAMENT. $1,000.00 AT EACH FIXED TOURNAMENT. (Total of $2,060.00 at the Sarasota tournament if not paid before, non refundable) The Pro Championship will have the same payout as the Sarasota event, regardless the number of entries. If you miss a fixed event tournament, a payment to the SKA office must be made before the event to be eligible to stay in the YPT. When you have finished your final fixed event, you will have paid $5,000.00, so there will be no collection of funds at the Pro Championship except for t/w/t's. A $10 YPT registration form must be filled out for the wildcard events as well as a $10 SKA Registration Division form.
Points are determined by a percentage of the fish weight. Here are some examples using points from each of the three types of events.
The largest fish of the day at a wildcard event is 35.10 and you weigh a 27.80. The winner, if entered in the Divisional Tournament and Pro Tour gets 1,200. You would receive 950 points. (27.80 ÷ 35.10 = 792 then × 1200 = 950 points. )
If this were a fixed event, where the largest fish of the day is worth 1,500 points, your 27.80 fish would be worth 1,188 points. (27.80 ÷ 35.10 = .792 then × 1500 = 1,188.)
In the Pro Championship where the largest fish of the day is worth 1,750 points, your 27.80 fish would be worth 1,386 points. (27.80 ÷ 35.10 = .792 then × 1750 = 1,386.)
Your largest fish caught all year, if any, will break all ties at the end of the year. In your ten fish stringer.
Class of 23 teams are certainly invited to fish the YPT and many have in years past. Class of 23 teams will receive wildcard points based on where they finish overall in the event and not in Class of 23 standings.
It is mandatory that you fish at least (3) three fixed events. With the three fixed events it will be your (6) six fish scores.
If you fish all (4) four fixed events, it will be your (8) eight fish scores.
If you miss a fixed event, you can make it up by fishing two wildcard days as long as the YPT registration form is filled out to indicate you are making up the event and the proper payments have been received. $10 per day for registration is required. Teams can also fish one wildcard event if they zero out in a fixed event day for whatever reasons. There are no drop fish. Once you receive points in a wildcard event you cannot keep fishing to better your score. If you zero out on a wildcard day, you cannot fish another wildcard to better yourself. Maximum wildcard days are (3) three! We will count (2) towards the fixed event you missed and (1) wildcard day from an event. You must choose your wildcard day. You cannot count a divisional event that is the same time as a fixed event for points. You can however, fish the event for their prizes.
The Yamaha Pro Championship, or the final event of the year, is also two days of fishing with points affixed to each day's fishing. It will be a two-day event, with the site being the same as that of the SKA National Championship. This year it will be held in Biloxi, Mississippi.
If you paid for the (4) four fixed events, you receive an automatic entry into the Pro Tour Championship and an invitation to the SKA National Championship. The Pro Championship will be on Tuesday and Wednesday and the National Championship on Friday and Saturday.
Everyone coming into the final event, the Pro Championship, should have eight days of fishing scores. Each day winner receives 1,750 points, and a percentage thereafter for the field. If you zero out in the Pro Championship you cannot add any wildcard points.
Top Angler of the Year honors go to the Captain of the boat with the highest point total of all four fixed events and wildcard events if needed, plus the Yamaha Pro Championship event.
Top Angler of the Year (Captain) will receive a ceremonial gold ring. The Top Angler of the Year (Captain) will also receive a large gold cup trophy engraved with his/her name, boat name, and year. The current and past Top Angler of the Year Captain's are automatically qualified to fish in the National Championship event, providing that they renew their competition membership by April 1st annually, and fish at least two divisional tournaments during the calendar year. This applies to the Captain only, not the crew, however a crew member who fishes a year with a YPT team can elect to start a team of his/her own for the following year providing the angler has been a competition member of the SKA for a minimum of one year prior to fishing the YPT circuit. The top five (5) teams at the end of year will be awarded trophies, from first through fifth place. Also, Top Junior, Top Lady and Top Senior Angler will be awarded trophies. Points will only count for Jr., Lady, and Senior Angler on one boat in the YPT, they cannot acquire points on different boats.
SKA Membership Rules, Angling Rules, SKA Tournament Rules and Code of Conduct to apply. For all YPT events including wildcard events, you cannot substitute a boat, i.e: you decide to fish the XYZ event and you talk to your friend into using his boat. He is fishing for divisional points, you are fishing for pro points, or vice versa. This will not be allowed.
Everyone on a YPT boat must be competition members. If at the end of an event, someone on the boat is not a competition member the points received from the event will not be counted. It is the responsibility of the Captain and the crew member(s) to make sure all memberships are current and up to date. The boat entered into the YPT must remain with team for the entire year and keep the same name. If a boat is sold during the year it can be replaced, however, it must carry the same name. Two boat substitutions may be made in the series and must be done for mechanical reasons or sale of the boat. Designated Captain must be on board for at least two of the four fixed events. A Co-Captain must be designated at the beginning of the year. To qualify as Co-Captain, he or she must fish with the Captain in a minimum of two of the four fixed events and one of the wildcard days if needed.
Any Captain, Co-Captain, or team member, who was a competition member and fished at least two tournaments, may elect to fish the YPT. Teams who qualify for the SKA National Championship in the Class of 23 are also eligible to compete in the YPT the following year, and may do so in a larger boat of their choice. There is no Class of 23 in the YPT. YPT teams must pay the entry fees for all YPT events the year prior in order to maintain their YPT eligibility for the following year and to qualify for the SKA National Championship. Any team or teams who drop out of the YPT without paying for all of the events will not be allowed to rejoin the YPT the following year. They will not be allowed to fish the YPT in any future years, until all monies are collected. Team members must have fished in all four YPT fixed events on an existing YPT team in order to Captain their own boat for the following year on the YPT. You must receive approval by the SKA management prior to fishing the YPT in order to verify that the requirements have been met previously. Teams will be sent qualifying announcements by January 1st for the current year's YPT. Captains will be required to pay $140.00 Pro Captain fee as well as $2,060.00 for the first and last events, non refundable. YPT qualifiers my join the YPT ranks at the first tournament of the year. Any YPT team electing to sit out a year can be re-instated any year for the processing fee of $250.00. No team fishing the YPT may recruit or pay a guide to assist them in a tournament during the tournament fishing days. Pre-fishing with a guide is allowed. Likewise, YPT teams may not add members to their team who possess local knowledge or who would create an unfair advantage against the other teams competing.
