The generosity of SKA fisherman is nearly overwhelming. Last year at the Nationals, SKA members provided nearly $4,000 to the daughter of fellow angler Rob Whitsett. Two and a half year old Isabella needed a kidney transplant

This year the need is broader. The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund will receive $4,680 due to the giving nature of the fishing fraternity. Once again Harvey Watson of AirTran Airways stepped up to the plate with two round trip airfares as the grand prize. The winners are Paul Smith, Striking Distance and J.L. Lee, Waverider.

Other prizes included an Engel cooler, American Rodsmiths Kingbreaker rods, Ocean Waves Sunglasses, lure kits, a rain suit, shirts, a Guy Harvey print and more!  Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket. Even if you did not win a prize, know that you helped coastal communities in great need.

In addition to generosity, a member displayed honesty and integrity at the Captain’s Meeting. A gentleman dropped an envelope with his name on the outside containing cash and gift certificates. Within an hour the envelope was turned in to the SKA tournament trailer. Thanks for being a stand-up guy (or lady) and turning in the cash!
